unquity road

while listening to “unquity road” on my  morning drive to work, i realized that i have been listening to pat metheny for most of my adult life / his music is the one that i keep coming back to \ even as i discover & temporarily latch on to new or old tunes & bands / this is a track from his debut album bright size life <1976, ecm> \ he was only 21! / among the many amazing qualities of this album is that in this trio format, on bass was jaco pastorius \ so from the very beginning he was already collaborating with the best

the article below is the most skilled interview of a musician that i have ever read / the interviewer must have been a musician too

another insightful piece is an excerpt from “music and the creative spirit: innovators in jazz, improvisation, and the avant garde (studies in jazz)” <2006 | by a non-musician lloyd peterson>, a book pointed to me by my guitar teacher \ would have loved to know miles davis’ thoughts
